雨季來臨的時候，大熱天裡拿出一杯冰飲料的時候，那四處滴答滑溜、潮濕一片的水滴想必大家都不陌生吧。這樣微小且閃閃發光的自然現象，滿布在韓國藝術家 金昌烈 的整個職業生涯之中。
自金昌烈於1972年移居法國的第一張畫作開始，至今年初他與世長辭為止，近50年的創作歷程中，金昌烈一直不斷地反覆描摹那晶瑩透亮的水滴，可以說是非常忠實、鍾情於這個繪製對象。而這個長久持續的主題，最初其實是始於金昌烈工作室中被水浸濕的畫布。

在光影之間融去塵俗，閃耀透亮與虛空
無論是描繪單一垂墜狀的水滴，或是布滿燈泡般，一點一點圓潤閃爍的畫布， 金昌烈 的每一幅作品都展現出巧妙的陰影和透明感。每一個水珠都完美呈現自然的表面張力，其寫實的景況彷彿只要受到輕微的震動，這眾多的水滴便會匯流為一，成為幾道水流，無所牽掛地自在滑落。
這樣極端精細且寫實的畫作，總讓觀看者忍不住想觸摸確認，甚至質疑自己是否產生錯覺。透過光影找到自己身分的水滴，就如同金昌烈不斷透過水滴來確立自己的定位。

融解屬於 金昌烈 的自我畫意，成就形而上的畫境
出生於北韓的 金昌烈 度過了充滿動盪的童年，後來他逃往南韓，於首爾大學學習繪畫，並於1958年成立了現代畫家學會（Modern Artists’ Association，後來改名為Actuel）。而後他的足跡移往美國、歐洲，逐漸成為全球知名的畫家。
金昌烈表示，畫水滴的行為是融解「這些」之中的所有事物，使之恢復為「虛無」的透明狀態。透明的水滴偶爾散發出金色或白色的光芒，彷彿也連結向某一種道家清淨且形而上的狀態。他的願望是融解自我(ego)，透過消除憤怒、焦慮、恐懼和其他一切，恢復到虛空狀態，我們才能真正達到和平與滿足的境地。
